Verona - the city of Romeo & Juliet

Who didn't try, perhaps not just ones, to meet love exactly in that place where it happens... well, Verona gives you the possibility to travel back in time with your mind and live a unique experience. It is the city where the love story of Shakesperes drama Romeo and Juliet took place receiving the fame of city of lovers. Juliet's Balcony and house is a sight very hounted by tourists, a kind of Tour Effel of Verona, and nearly, a Juliet of bronze is waiting for you to immortalize the moment in a special holiday picture.

Verona is a old town in Italy, or, better said a province in Veneto, on the shore of Adige river and near lake Garda, situated by 59 m over the sea side, by the foot of San Pietro mountain, and a distance of 341 km of Rome, the capital of Italy. If you decide to visit it, you will have the pleasure to discover a typical italian city, but in the same time a romantic, peacefull place, without the agglomeration of a big metropolisis.

In Verona you can admire the Roman Amphitheatre (Arena) wich is situated in Bra Plazza and was built in the 1st century BC, original used for the gladiator fights and contests. Since the 18th century it is only used for cultural events, but, with a little bit of fantasy, who knows, maybe it is possible to revive a glorious moment of ancient history. Every year it is hosting the prestigious opera season and well known for having the largest opera stage in the world.

Basillica San Zeno Maggiore is the most beautiful church of Verona, Saint Zeno beeing the protector of the city. Other churches are Basilica San Lorenzo, Santa Maria Atica and the Dome.

Barbieri Palace and Bra Piazza are in the near of the Arena. The Maffei Palace with the sculpture of six greek gods and in front of it with the Verona lion ( the symbol of the city) are other places in the list of "must have seen in Verona".

The Museum of National History has the most valuable collections of fossils and archeological peaces in Europe. Castelvecchio Museum is a fortress transformed into a museum wich detains sculptures, paintings and statues kept during the ages for giving the possibility to view art in all it's different forms of presentation.

Piazza del Sigriori is a central square wich includes the statue of Dante Alighieri - the pearless poet and philosopher who was hausted by the people of Verona in his exil period. Piazza del Erbe used to be the Roman Forum and is now an open air market surrounded by historical buildings.

The two bridges on the Adige river probably will catch the visitors attention, Ponte Pietra is a bridge since the roman era and Ponte Scaligero offers a perfect view of sunrise and sunset over a city wich survived history, offering eternal moments.
